Mucca Osteria
Mucca
Rome native, Simone Savaiano, opened Mucca Osteria in the summer of 2011 with the help of his good friend, Pietro Biondi, in downtown Portland, accomplishing his greatest dream of opening an authentic Italian osteria in the U.S. Osteria – derived from the word, “oste,” was a place during the Middle Ages where explorers and traders stopped to refuel and relax, eating well and being taken care of by the host before their long journeys. Today, Italians frequent an osteria to enjoy small, refined menus, good wine, and warm hospitality. From this idea, Simone began an endless search for perfection, starting in those small restaurants in Italy where even today nothing has changed. Entering into Mucca is like taking a step into Italy, into those places where he was taught the importance of the most fundamental ingredients of Italian cuisine. All of the essential ingredients, the extra virgin olive oil, flour, cheeses, are all carefully hand selected.

Olympic Provisions
Olympic Provisions - 01
Tucked into one of Portland’s beautifully restored industrial buildings, Olympic Provisions Southeast has grown from establishing the city’s first salumeria to being a destination for refined, European-style dishes. Our menu is guided by the capable hands of chef Alex Yoder, and reflects an innovative approach to the traditions of rustic Spanish and Mediterranean cooking. In combining these methods with the clean, bold flavors of the Pacific Northwest, Yoder’s dishes highlight the locally-sourced meats and seasonal vegetables you’ll find on his menus.

Screen Door
Screen Door - 02
Screen Door presents a celebration of southern cuisine as experienced by southern natives from the quintessential hearty fare to the everyday foods gathered fresh from the garden. Central to our concept is making use of the similar rich bounty of local fresh produce found here in the northwest that southerners often take for granted growing up in the south. Screen Door serves local and organic produce and meats everyday. Screen Door is a part of maintaining the connection between farm and plate and simultaneously presenting a revival of regional American cuisine through the historical methodologies and preparations found in the south.

Vista House
Vista House - 02
Intended as a site for travelers to experience the beauty of the Columbia River Gorge, Vista House was built in 1916 as a tribute to Oregon’s early settlers. The octagonal stone building sports a copper dome and was designed by Edgar Lazarus, brother of Emma Lazarus (who penned the lines carved on the Statue of Liberty’s pedestal). It was constructed, in part, by Italian stonemasons, who were in Oregon working on the Columbia River Highway. Today, in addition to its travel necessities (phones, restrooms, refreshments), Vista House offers exhibits about the area, a gift shop, art gallery, and special events.

Occupying 64 acres in Washington Park and providing shelter for more than 1000 animals, the zoo has become one of the state’s largest attractions. Animal habitats replicate natural environments, and the zoo works diligently to protect endangered species and prevent threatened ones from becoming extinct. Attractions within the zoo include sections that mimic the terrains of Africa, Alaska, the Amazon forest and the Savannah. You’ll also find areas dedicated to bats, insects, mountain goats, elk, penguins, big cats and Asian elephants. Great for the entire family. The zoo opens an hour early (8am) from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day.

Oregon Trail - 02
Oregon City is an easy drive from Portland, and the Interpretive Center, with its covered-wagon-style buildings, is worth the journey. The Center is especially great for kids since it has costumed interpreters and plenty of things to see and touch. Theaters present videos of the journey west, and exhibits provide details of pioneers, Black families in the West, and the coming of the railroad. A craft workshop offers visitors hands-on activities, and the summer months bring a host of special events. If you need souvenirs or other gifts, the museum store will set you up right.

The ORHF mission is to secure a permanent home for the City of Portland’s steam locomotives and establish a Rail and Industrial Heritage Museum. Portland’s industrial heritage is entwined with being at the crossroads of many different railroads for over a century. The east-side Brooklyn Yard near the Willamette continues to host one of the last remaining roundhouses with a turntable. Therein live three historic steam locomotives and most of the heavy machinery necessary to maintain them by volunteers. The near vicinity hosts a variety of historic diesel locomotives as well as historic passenger cars and other rolling stock.

HairM
HairM
That is our mission. To do this we offer two laid back men’s grooming environments (this is no stuffy spa or boring barbershop) where you can unwind and reenergize – in Portland and Beaverton. You may find yourself so comfortable you hang out longer than your appointment! The hostess will greet you at the front bar and offer you your choice of beverage. Choose from two Widmer beers on tap, wine, premium coffee & tea, juice, bottled water or soda. If you are early, you can catch up on the news or game highlights at the bar or dive into one of the many magazines appealing to men (there's no Glamour mags at HairM). Enjoy a cigar outside from our selection or surf the Internet with our wi-fi connection. If you are getting a hair or men’s grooming service you may continue watching your own private LCD TV or catch up with your favorite men’s hair stylist. Stop back in for another visit anytime for a free neckline trim.
